Happy Birthday Great-Granny Ruby!

On the way home from Pigeon Forge, we took a pit stop at Great-Granny Ruby's house in Franklin to wish her a Happy Birthday. We couldn't have been a minute later because we stopped her on the way to town. She turned around and came back to visit with us. It was good to see her and Aunt Carolyn and Aunt Sheila! Happy Birthday Granny!

While at Granny's, Hunter tried out the little rocking chair. He thought he was big stuff! He was probably thinking, "How did my rocking chair get here!" :)

Away From it All....REALLY!

Last week we took a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN for a vacation with Mama's family and Daddy's family. Hunter thought it was great because Mimi and Pops were there to spoil him Wednesday - Friday and then Nana, Aunt Amanda, Uncle Josh, Britt and Caleb came for Friday- Sunday! We just kept thinking how much fun Hunter would be Monday after all of the entertainment was gone home! I know he did miss them but his toys never looked so fun! He had to inspect them all! We had a great vacation and the weather was so nice!

The reason for the title is the cabin we stayed in was called "Away from it All" and it sure was! We wanted to be away from the crowds in Pigeon Forge because of the car show and we definitely accomplished that! Even though the brochure should state you need four wheel drive to get there and strong legs to get you up a side of mountain of stairs, it was well worth it! The cabin had a game room downstairs with a pool table and darts. Hunter even enjoyed playing pool with Daddy and Pops! The inside of the cabin was nice and the view was so beautiful off of the front porch...

This was what the sunrise over the mountains looked like that we saw each morning!

Pops (or Pop Pop as Hunter has now began to call him) and Mimi with Hunter on the porch

Hunter taught Mimi and Pops how to drive a car or at least a refresher course! On Thursday, we took a trip to Dollywood and had a really good time! Hunter enjoys driving the old timey cars and hanging out in the "Country Fair" kids area.

Hunter got to ride his very first "choo choo" as he calls it! He just sat the whole train ride amazed! I'm sure we'll be taking plenty of more rides on the "choo choo" in the future!

Hunter guided Mama around on several of the kiddie rides. I'm afraid it won't be long before he will be able to ride on his own! What a big boy! Daddy and Hunter took a ride on the elephants on Friday but we forgot to take the camera with us that day! :(

Daddy and Mama decided to take Pops on the Mystery Mine for the very first time! It is a very unique roller coaster ride in Dollywood. While waiting in line, Hunter waved to us and decided to show us how much fun he and Mimi were having. He just kept kissing Mimi and then waving to us in line! It was so cute!

Thanks to Mimi and Pops keeping Hunter, Daddy took Mama out for their third anniversary on Thursday night. We decided to go miniature golfing at Firehouse Golf in Pigeon Forge and then went to our favorite restaurant - Red Lobster! Yummy! We had a great night out on the town!

When Michael's family arrived, we toured the streets to look at the hot rods that had come to Pigeon Forge for the Rod Run. Above is a picture of the hot rod that Hunter picked out!

But this is the hot rod that Britt and Caleb picked out! I think we'll definitely be able to afford Hunter's hot rod over theirs! haha! I think the boys had a great time and saw a bunch of cars they would like to have one day or now! :) We had a great vacation going shopping, going to Dollywood, looking at nice cars, and just spending time away from it all with our families! What a wonderful time we had! Thanks everyone for making it so special!

Hunter's One Year/Easter Pics

Both this Sunday and last Sunday, we went to the Botanical Gardens to take some pictures of Hunter in his Easter outfit. We wanted to go back today since it was such a gorgeous day for a picnie. Plus last week, Hunter was tired and we had a little trouble trying to get him to smile. I thought after last week, I had a few pictures that I could post for his Easter and one year pictures, but after today, I have just decided to create an online photo gallery for everyone to look at. There were too many cute pictures to choose from and I didn't think I should put all 40 pictures on here! I hope you enjoy our cute little one year old!

On the Hunt

This afternoon, Daddy "hid" the Easter eggs or I guess we should say placed them about five feet apart from each other for Hunter to go and find. It really surprised us because Hunter knew exactly what to do! He went straight to the eggs and picked them up one by one!

Just like the Easter Egg hunt last Saturday, he wanted to stop and check out each one. I think he finally realized that these eggs didn't come apart like his other eggs we had inside.

After he picked up the eggs, then it got a little confusing for him. He tried to put them in his basket, but this was a little difficult for him. We tried to help him but he finally just realized that he would just throw them as soon as he picked them up instead. Some landed in the basket and others...

got stepped on!

I think the broken eggs were even more fun!

Easter Morning

The Bowmans in their Sunday outfits before church! Hunter enjoyed getting his picture taken this morning. I guess he thought he was cute stuff! :)

What We Thought Was a Good Idea...

Michael and I had been so excited about dying Easter Eggs with Hunter. We thought that was such a cute idea and even Aunt Amanda had gotten us a Mickey Mouse egg dying kit. What we didn't realize as you can see a little further down was that it was not as simple as we thought with Hunter. Oh well...maybe we'll try again next year and see if he can do it any better. At least Mama and Daddy had fun!

We attempted to let Hunter dye the first egg and we were going to let his egg be blue. As soon as he reached to try to get the egg holder, the "cups" they give you to use collapsed and out went blue dye everywhere, including his fingers which he then wiped on his white shirt! Needless to say, he ended up helping with his one blue egg and Mama and Daddy did the rest.

Hunter's blue egg

After Hunter's egg had dried, we attempted to let him hold it. We figured he would try to throw it like a ball, but he actually didn't do that at all. Instead he...

TRIED TO EAT IT!! Then it was bath time!

Hunter's Birthday Outing with Mama and Daddy

Saturday was so beautiful that we decided to take advantage of the day and go to Clemson for the afternoon! After the storms we had Friday night, we were very excited about the weather for Hunter's birthday. We decided to take Hunter to the Clemson football Spring Game. It is a scrimmage where you get to check out next fall's football team. Before the game, we walked around campus to see all of the activities they had set up for the fans to enjoy.

Since it was just a scrimmage, you didn't have to have a ticket for the game and you could sit anywhere you wanted. I had been a little worried about Hunter getting sunburned but it actually worked out great because for the first time ever we sat in the West End Zone under the overhang. We had a great view and Hunter seemed to really enjoy himself!

For the second attempt at letting the Tiger hold him, we received the same reaction - TEARS!! Let's just say, Hunter is a tiger fan from far away! :)

This is how Hunter wanted to pose for his picture. He thought he was big stuff sitting in his own seat all by himself!

We're always glad Daddy has long arms and we can get family shots by ourselves without bothering others! What a great day we had together in Clemson!

One More Gift!

Mimi and Pops had a similar idea to Mama and Daddy. They let us keep one of his presents to give him on his birthday. Mama and Daddy didn't know what he had gotten, but as soon as we heard "eee eee, ahh ahh, eee eee" we knew that there had to be a monkey in the bag! Sure enough, Mimi and Pops had gotten a large monkey bath towel for Hunter. He was so excited about the monkey! They also got him some cute clothes and socks! Thanks Mimi and Pops!

Hunter Turns One!!!

I can't believe Hunter is officially one year old!!! Since he got so many presents last week at his party and wasn't sure he would have any to open on his real birthday, Mama and Daddy saved their present to give to Hunter on his real birthday and actually we were so busy on his birthday we weren't home long enough to give him his presents until it was almost bedtime (For those of you wondering....this outfit was not what he wore all day for his birthday...they are his pjs)

We got him a plastic set of golf clubs that he really likes. I just hope he doesn't use them as a weapon! :) He doesn't really understand the concept of hitting the ball with the club, but maybe he'll catch on soon!

Admiring his new club... For some reason he likes the driver most of all.

Hunter was also excited about his new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse sippie cups!

Mama and Daddy also got some other things Hunter really likes - BOOKS!! We are so thankful he enjoys books as much as he does. He would probably get rid of all of his toys and just keep the books if he had to choose! I hope that continues for many years to come!

Of course Daddy had to check out Hunter's new toys! :) Hopefully Hunter will get the idea from Daddy about what he is actually supposed to do with the golf clubs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUNTER!!! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! WHAT A BLESSING YOU ARE TO MAMA AND DADDY!!! :)

Swingin' Good Time

This past week Hunter has been really enjoying his birthday present from Nana and Papaw - a swing set! It's still in progress but at least the part that is complete is what Hunter is interested in - the infant swing and slide! Since the weather was much better the last few days, we have been out swinging at least once or twice a day. Too bad there isn't a swing Hunter could swing Mama in since it seems to put him to sleep every time we swing! As you can see below, he really likes his swing! Thanks Nana and Papaw!

Who Would Have Known?

Last night, Daddy had a photoshoot at a fundraiser event at Seneca High School. The Seneca community was trying to raise money for a new shelter in downtown Seneca. To raise money they had a "Final Four" basketball tournament. The doctors played the lawyers and the firemen played the policemen. Since Hunter and I didn't have anything planned for the night, I decided to take him to the see the basketball games and to see Daddy. What we didn't know was that the teams had recruited some pretty well-known coaches - Clemson University basketball players! The doctors were coached by Terrence Oglesby and the lawyers were coached by Jerai Grant!

After Terrence Oglesby did his job of coaching the doctors, I took Hunter over to him to get a picture with T.O. Hunter wasn't exactly sure why I had just handed him over to this stranger so he definitely took a few minutes to look him over!

Finally Oglesby was able to get Hunter to turn towards Daddy to get his picture. What a good surprise to get to see some Clemson basketball players last night!

Cool Dude in Disguise!

I guess it is time to brace ourselves...Hunter has hit the age where he is going to get all kinds of "boo boo's!" Two nights ago he fell into the corner of our keyboard tray on our computer desk and just BARELY missed the corner going into his eye. Instead he hit the corner of his eye but still screamed for a while. You can't actually see it in the picture since he is wearing his cool sunglasses we got at Target yesterday! :) You can however see the second boo boo on the top right of his head. He was reading a book on our ottoman and got a little too excited I guess and fell off of the ottoman, head first into the carpet. He cried for a few minutes but not too long. I guess the carpet burn didn't hurt as bad as the fall the night before. I am posting this to say I guess our little boy is growing up and venturing out a little more and being a little bit more adventurous! I'm sure this is just the beginning of boo boos!

Spending the Day with Friends at the Masters

Tuesday Michael and I got the chance to do something we may never get to do again - go to the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. I had been with my Dad a long time ago but Michael had never been before. We were very excited that we got a chance to do this! It was so cold but it was definitely worth every minute. The course and azaleas were beautiful! Thanks to the Harringtons for the tickets!

We even got to see something that probably only happened one time this week at the Masters...a hole in one by skipping a ball across the pond on hole #16 by V. Singh! Since it was the practice round, the golfers entertained the crowd by hitting the ball and skipping it across the water like you would do with a rock and then they tried to get it on to the green. Who would have known we would see someone actually do it and make a hole in one!!! That was definitely a highlight of the day!

We went to the Masters with our friends - Chuck and Jenny - and had a great time with them! After we walked the course and saw a lot of golfers, they took us to Magnolia Lane. It was so pretty! Thanks for a great day Chuck and Jenny!

Since we only had two tickets we weren't able to take Hunter with us. Which actually it worked out best because it was so cold that he would have been miserable! So instead of going, Nana came down and spent the day with Hunter since they were on Spring Break in Franklin. Thanks Nana! I'm so glad Hunter was a sweet boy for her! Thanks also Aunt Amanda, Granny Moretz, Britt and Caleb for coming down to play and visit with Hunter!

Getting Ready for Church

Last Sunday before we went to church, we had a few extra minutes so we thought we would get a couple of pictures since we all had our blue and khaki on! I guess we should have done that this Sunday for Easter instead. Oh well I guess you will see another post next week of the same kind of shot! :)
