The week before his second birthday, we decided it was time for Hunter to be a big boy and learn to use the potty! I had tried it in January, after he got his potty from Santa, but he was scared and very frustrated when he couldn't do it. So I gave up until the week before he turned two! It turned out great because Mimi was on Spring Break, so we took a trip to Fort Mill for "Potty Boot Camp!" haha. Just what Mimi wanted to do on her Spring Break! :) The first couple of days were kind of difficult because he did have several accidents, but by day 3, it was like it just clicked! We were so excited! Mimi had printed out a Mickey Mouse Potty Chart and each time he went to the potty, he got to put a sticker on the chart. That worked great because he loves both of those things- Mickey Mouse and stickers! I think he would have been just as happy to get the praise, hugs, and kisses each time. It was great to see how proud of himself he was each time he was successful! He has now been trained about a month and things are going great! I actually feel comfortable leaving the house again and he is still just as excited to see us so proud of him! I'm glad we stuck to it, even when people tried to tell me he was too young!
Here are a couple of cute pictures of Hunter on Easter Day. We had tried to get a few pictures Easter morning before church, but he was not interested in taking pictures that early in the morning. I decided not to post the pictures of him crying and his eyes blood red. So as soon as we got home from church and eating lunch at Red Lobster, we took a few pics of him in his Easter outfit!
Hunter wanted a picture with his Easter Donald Duck Daddy had gotten him the week before when he had been so sick.
Each year our church has its own Easter Celebration and Egg Hunt. For the last two years, we have had it at a neighborhood playground area in Clemson. It is great and Hunter really enjoyed it this year. The kids get to play on the playground, hear a bible story, make a craft, decorate a cupcake, eat Chick-fil-A, and have an egg hunt.
Hunter looked like a pro this year since we had been practicing at home beforehand!
The only problem was...we had not stuffed our eggs with prizes! So it took a little while for us to convince Hunter that he could open them all at the end and didn't have to do it along the way. He did great and ended up finding 13 eggs!
This was so cute! Hunter and his buddy Troy were checking out each others lute!
We were a little hesitant this year to dye Easter eggs, but we decided to attempt it anyways. We chose a night that Aunt Amy wasn't home to see him destroy anything of hers! haha... Actually it worked out great because we all three sat on the kitchen floor to dye the eggs so it wouldn't hurt too much if we spilled any dye.
Sure enough we were only able to dye one egg blue because it spilled all over Hunter and the floor, but luckily it all wiped up nicely and Hunter's clothes did eventually come clean! Hunter had a great time and we will have to remember to do it on the floor again next year. I guess it was dying the eggs, but before we dyed eggs he wanted nothing to do with eating eggs and now he loves eating boiled eggs!
