We started out the new year with a Clemson basketball game with our friends Deacon and Breyana!
The boys love going to Littlejohn and seeing the tigers play basketball!
We went to Franklin to see Hunter and Peyton's cousins Britt and Caleb play basketball. The first time we went, we didn't get to see Britt play because he hurt his hand but we did go back later in the season to see him play. Both are great at the game and won all three games in which we watched!
Cute picture of the cousins!
During one of our trips to Littlejohn this season to see the tigers play basketball, we sat right next to DeAndre Hopkins (a Clemson football star) and so Hunter posed with him for a picture!
Even big brother Hunter got in a few shots!! He is really growing up too!!
"Napping"/Playing with Mimi on their neighborhood playground while in Fort Mill for a visit!
Two Cool Dudes in the pajamas!
Another eating adventure - Los Amigos! Peyton loves the white melting cheese. That's all he needs, cheese and dip!
Sadly, Dada sold his jeep. It is great news as well though because it is still in the family. Dada sold it to Uncle Josh! I think Dada is a little sad about it but very happy to see it being driven and used and not just sitting and rotting away!
Funny story that we recently encountered in a store called Khols. We were looking for Hunter and Peyton some shoes for Aunt Amy's wedding and when we came across this laying in the shoe department on the floor, Hunter said..."Oh no! Someone lost their ear!!" It made our day!! When you just glance
My little laundry helper! He loves to help me with throwing the clothes in the washing machine and then throwing them into the dryer!
I think Mellow Mushroom is Hunter's favorite place to eat not only for the pizza and pretzels but also because they get to sit on the big tiger outside the restaurant. Peyton has just now come around to liking it.
A couple of random pictures of the boys "cheesing" it on the back porch. We have loved having our screened in back porch. We eat many meals out there and it is a great place to relax after a long day of playing hard!
While visiting family in Franklin, Hunter likes to take Papaw's golf cart down the middle school track and do some of the exercises they have set up around the track. This one I thought was rather impressive. He could almost extend his legs up parallel to the bars! What a strong boy Hunter is!
This is one of Peyton's favorite things about visiting Granny Moretz - playing with Calico! It's always the first thing Peyton does when we get there...gets out and looks for Calico or Calico "Bowman" as Hunter calls her. Peyton definitely has a love for animals! There is a new PetSmart in Seneca now and both boys think they visited the zoo each time we leave. They love it! Thank goodness they have yet to figure out you can actually bring the animals home with you. I wonder how long that will last before they start asking if they can take the animals home??
April 7th, we met "Bec Bec" and Mrs. Amanda at Nettles Park in Clemson for an Easter Egg hunt. This was the first time that we had attempted an egg hunt this big but both boys had a blast! They each were divided into groups of their age. Both he and Rebekah were very excited while waiting at the fence for the whistle to blow.
I couldn't believe how good Peyton did! I guess it was all of the practice with he and Hunter that we had been doing for the two previous weeks. He even carried his own basket too!
I thought this was so cute. They were checking out each other's loot! Funny thing is they both ended up finding 8 eggs all by themselves! Way to go Bec Bec and Peyton! Peyton was so excited to race back to his big brother and show him all of his eggs he found! I think Hunter was proud of him too!
Then it was Hunter's turn! I think he looks so grown up in this picture!!!
I was a little worried about Hunter being surrounded by so many kids. Sometimes when he is around that many kids, he just shuts down and doesn't want to do anything. Not this time!!! He was on the war path!! I love this shot below of him in action...
He did great and found I think it was 26 eggs!!! I couldn't believe it!
Cute pic of Rebekah with her rabbit whistle!
Peyton decided he would stick to some simple bowling instead of trying to hang with the big boys and girls!
Happy Easter - April 8, 2012
Our family photo before church the morning of Easter! I love my family!
My handsome big boy Hunter!
And my cute "ham" Peyton! aka "Preacher man" as several have said after they have seen this picture!
Sweet, handsome brothers!
And of course, I insisted on a picture of me with my boys!
I think this is a cute picture of Hunter hunting eggs with Granny Moretz, Nana, and Papaw all looking down from above!
The two brother's and their finds!
Oliver LOVED the boys so much! It was soooo funny and cute! He kept reaching for them and hugging and squeezing them like crazy! Hunter loved it and Peyton did too for a little while! :) Happy 1st Bday Oliver! We have definitely enjoyed having you in our life the last year! Our boys love you and so do we! We can't believe you are already one!
Happy Birthday Hunter James Bowman!!!
Happy 4th Birthday Hunter!! He woke up and entered into the kitchen with cameras and video cameras. We had decorated the kitchen table area with balloons and streamers. Peyton gave him his gift first....A REAL toolset! Hunter loves building and fixing things and has always asked for real tools! Peyton got a big hug for his present! Then Hunter had to read his birthday card from Mama and Dada to find out where his gift was from us. This is something that he had mentioned that he liked and so we thought this would be a great investment for the whole family for years to come!
An adjustable basketball goal!
His first glance at his gift was priceless!! He ran right over to his ball rack and pulled out a little basketball and...ran right up and put the ball through the hoop!!! The very first time!! We knew he would enjoy it but were worried it would take some time for him to build up strength for him to make a goal. We were definitely wrong. I was videoing the whole thing and got so excited that he made it that I missed getting it on camera!! haha
I think he was pretty excited about his birthday gift and had the perfect pajamas to match his new gift! I can't believe our boy is four already!!! He is growing up way too fast! He is now about 39 pounds and 41 1/2 inches tall! His newest achievement besides learning to shoot in a big basketball goal is that he can swing on a swing all by himself from start to finish. He is such a good "pumper" that we sometimes have to tell him that he is swinging a little too high! He is also enjoying playing ball with Dada pitching to him. After going to watch his friend Sam play baseball, he is looking forward to playing next year. Of course we love that he and his brother are outdoor boys but he does also like to play some things inside like Wii, play his Touchpad, watch cartoons for rest time, and he enjoys reading. He is getting so good at it too! He has an I Can Read Bible and enjoys reading those stories each night before bed. We are so proud of our big boy! We love you Hunter! Happy Birthday!
Party #1
This year we did things a little different for Hunter's birthday. We normally just throw a big party at our church or house but this year we decided to have two smaller parties. It was a little confusing to Hunter because the first party he thought he turned four and the next party five! :) The first party we had was actually on his birthday and we just have the kids from our street over and a couple of other close friends of Hunter. Both parties were pretty similar but just with different people. Since Hunter is really into sports and he was getting a basketball goal for his birthday, we did a ball party. While getting ready for the party, Dada decided to fix the water meter hole that we had in the ground so no kid would trip and fall in it. Little did he know, he would actually cause the piping to break and tons of water come flowing out before he could get it stopped. Unfortunately while I got ready for the party, Dada was dealing with the water company and plumbers! But hey, we got it fixed finally, even Dada did miss the first 30 minutes of the party.
Party favors and cupcakes we had...
Peyton really enjoyed the balloons!
Hunter's buddies Nolan and Sam enjoying the party!
We even had our tailgating games out as well...washers and corn hole.
And of course all Peyton was interested in was the balloons!
Until he got tired! It doesn't matter where we are, Peyton will just lay down and assume his sleeping position of hands behind the head!
I think Hunter had a great 4th Birthday Party with all of his friends!
On to Party #2 - This was a party for our family. Our family keeps on growing because there were still close to 30 people there! Imagine if I had tried to do just one party! For this party, I got a little more ambitious and made sports cake pops. As you can see from below, I made basketballs, baseballs, and footballs. I think they turned out great and everyone seemed to enjoy them.
We set up our tent in the drive for grandparents and others to sit under since it was such a warm day!
Since I had made cake pops, I wasn't sure how we were going to "blow out candles" since you can't really stick them into cake pops. So instead I bought a chocolate chip cookie to put some candles in.
Good thing we had said no presents at our first party. He and Peyton both got PLENTY of gifts at this party.
Hunter liked showing everyone how he can hit the ball really good now. He is looking forward to playing baseball next year!
He also had fun playing with his new birthday present, the goal, with Britt and Caleb!
A cute family picture at the party
Some yummies waiting for people to enjoy!
Hunter did a great job blowing out his candles. He was a little bit shy whenever was staring him and singing to him but he eventually let go of Michael's leg enough to get the candles blown out!
Peyton LOVED the "balls" as he called them!
Hunter got some wonderful gifts from our families! Some of the ones below are...
Build to Grow kits to build with his new tools!
A signed "Happy Birthday Hunter" helmet by CJ Spiller!
And what he has been wanting ever since playing it at his friends Sam and Troy's house...Mario Kart for the Wii!
He was given so many more great gifts and blessed with some money as well! Thanks to everyone who came and made his birthday so special!
Mimi and Pop!
Aunt Amy and Chad!
Uncle JJ!
Nana and Papaw!
Great-Granny Moretz!
Great-Grandma Donald!
Great-Granny Ruby!
Aunt Sheila!
Aunt Amanda, Britt, and Caleb!
Cousins Jacob and Jamie!
Cai, Jenny, and Caleb!
Derek and Kelly!
Bre!
Misty!
Hunter couldn't wait to try out his new Mario Kart! I think he's going to be a good driver when he gets older! :) As you can see after bath time we realized that I was such a good Mama for letting my son get sunburnt at his party! Even better was that he went to the doctor the next day for his four year appointment so I got preached to about sunscreen! :)
At his appointment they did things a little differently this time. They longer measure his head circumference but instead took his blood pressure. It seemed a little low to me but for kids they said it was perfect. He had to get three shots. I didn't tell him this until we got close to time because he is such a worrier (like his mama) he would not have stepped foot in the building! He did great and the funny part is, the nurse said "Okay it's over. Now we are just going to put the band aids on!" Well Hunter burst into louder tears that before. What the nurse did not realize is that my son hates band aids worse than he does shots! I know kind of crazy but as soon as I got those band aids off, he was completely fine! We found out he is now 41 inches tall!! and 39.5 pounds!! What a big boy!
Just another couple of random pics I found of Peyton relaxing outside on the pavement and playground!
A few weekends ago, we took the boys and went to pick strawberries. As you can see from the first picture, Peyton didn't get many of his strawberries to the basket! He loved picking and eating them!
The boys with their basket full of yummy strawberries!
Hunter did such a great job picking them and knowing which ones were the best to pick. We will definitely have to do this again sometime. The next day we made some strawberry jam for the boys. They both love Mimi's jam so I thought I would give it a try making some! It wasn't that hard at all.
One of the last weekends in April, I helped throw a bridal shower for Amy. It was very nice and she and Chad got a lot of great things. Here are the cake pops I made for the shower. I think they turned out really cute. Although the the ones on the right look yellow, they were white. While at the shower, Michael and Pop took the boys and went to one of their favorite places in Greenville...Chuck E Cheese! They love playing all of the games and in comparison to all of the other places like that, it is very inexpensive to play a lot of games. Here they are riding a simulator...
A couple of weekends ago Papaw let us borrow his boat and we took it out on Lake Hartwell. Living so close to the lake we should take more advantage of this but it just doesn't seem like we ever have the time. Maybe we'll get to do this a couple of more times this summer because you can see from the pictures, the boys had a blast!
Mama and Dada with the kiddies! What a wonderful afternoon with my family! It was a gorgeous day and we had some much fun!!
Neither boy was too excited about getting in the water but maybe as the water warms up this summer they will enjoy it more.
