Summer 2012 Beach Trip #1

During the summer of 2012, we took a couple of beach trips.  One was to Myrtle Beach, SC with my family and the other was to Destin Beach, FL with Michael's family.  So here's how the first trip went...

Michael, Hunter, Peyton, and I decided to drive down a night early so we could be there the next day for a full day of the beach.  Little did we know that it is hard to get a hotel room for one night at about 11:00 at night in Myrtle.  Luckily after calling about 20 different places, we were able to get a place to stay right beside Ocean Creek, which is where we were going to be staying the rest of the week.  Since Amy and Chad had just gone to Jamaica, we ended up just having us and Mimi and Pop on the vacation.  We had such a great time and the weather was perfect!  Peyton got to stay up the latest he ever has since he decided not to sleep on the way to the beach and of course as soon as we got to the hotel, we had to let them go out and put their feet in sand and ocean at midnight!  Fun times!

The next day, Mimi and Pop got there and headed to the beach for most of the day.  Hunter really tried his best to catch a fish with his net but they were just a little too fast for him.

Peyton really enjoyed getting to play in the sand and build and dig things.  This was the first year, he really got into doing anything on the beach and not being freaked out about touching the water.  Both boys had a blast and there was so much room for them to play on the beach and run around!

This is one of the cutest things...Peyton would keep turning around and saying "Watch!" and then would run towards the water and touch the water and run out again and say it again.  It was so funny!

Two cute Beach Bums!

I just love those family beach pics in our bathing suits! haha

Mimi and Pop with their boys!

Peyton loved that he and I were able to bury Hunter up to his knees.  He kept hugging on him.  I'm not sure if he just thought it was so cool that Hunter was that way or if he thought he should be trying to hold onto him.  Not sure but either way it was sweet!

Every year that we have gone to the beach and we have had a child old enough to walk, I have made Michael do these shots.  I just think it is so cute!  I should do another blog post sometime just comparing how each beach trip has changed with Hunter being so young to growing up to adding Peyton was well!

Dada did a fantastic Clemson Tigerpaw again this trip!  Of course Hunter and Peyton had LOADS of fun running over it and destroying it after a while!  All of Dada's work gone to waste in his eyes I'm sure! haha  Hopefully he saw the enjoyment they got from destroying it! :)

Ocean Creek is so unique how it is designed.  It has great little pathways going all the way to the beach that you can either walk or take a golf cart ride.  It was fun for us to all take evening walking trips down the pathways to the beach from our condo room.
Along the paths are little ponds where there are lots of ducks and fish.  Mimi remembered and had brought us some old bread to throw to them.  The boys had so much fun doing this and we even saw some eels under the water that would come up for the bread.  Those were not so nice looking!
Me and Peyton one evening on our walk

And of course, we had to do the ritual beach trip fun...PUTT-PUTT!!  This is something that I can remember doing for years now and both boys have picked up on loving this as an added bonus to our beach trips.  They are becoming just as competitive as Mama and Dada and Mimi and Pop! :)
  Hunter even had a hole-in-one!

Peyton is getting his stroke down as well!

What a fun family beach tradition!
